The subtle beginning of an epic saga
First of all a quick update: The Last Arrival II will be available in January for the general public. It's been released on kickstarter just a few days ago for people who backed it. The subtlety of The Last Arrival issue 1
More happens in this issue than you'd think. It's a set-up that will serve as a walking stick to help you walk through this complex science fantasy space opera, hopefully making it less complex. When the last issue (5) will come out, you can read back and I think you'll be amazed how many things were setups.
In fact it would probably work better in a collected trade paperback and I hear you on that. But I need the feedback and I need to slowly build up an audience. If I come out with the whole thing in a few years, I don't think I can build up excitement for it. I suck at marketing as it is I don't want to make it harder for myself.
Issue 2 is still part of the beginning. To not give away a lot, Issue 1 is the set-up for the characters, issue 2 is the set-up for the problem they have to get over and 2 also contains the inciting incident.
Expect a very interconnected series where there are no wasted panels.
Everything matters.
